I know what you mean. I've recently been laid off too and the jobs are few and far inbetween. Luckliy I'm getting unemployment at the moment but its not enough to pay the bills and they getting are starting to get behind.
Since I have so much free time, I started looking at ways to earn money online, so I started a website about job news since that is what is on my mind. You can visit if you like and it would also be great if everyone could submit some of the articles to Web 2.0 sites such as Digg.com or Propeller.com or any of the other bookmarking sites. It would help me out a lot. Anyway please check out http://www.dailyjobsnews.com and let me know what you think. Its not earning me any money right now but hopefully it will soon.
Perhaps something like this would help you out.
There is also a website that will pay you for writing articles. They don't pay much, but if you don't have any income then it helps. Its at http://www.associatedcontent.com if you want to check it out.
I know many insurance companies are now offering phone counseling in the form of Behavior Health or Wellness coaching. United Health Care has a program which most people in their plans can use. I think Blue Cross and the other big ones have these programs are in the process of starting them.
This is also one of the iniative proposed with the Obama Healthcare plan. Perhaps you could call your isurance company and see if they have a similar program. Many isurance companies are coming to realize its cheaper to keep someone well than to treat them after they are in really bad health. This may be an option for some of you who can't leave the house. Even if you don't have a phone, you have Internet so you can use something like Skype to make the phone calls with.
Then go to the emergency room if you don't have the cash to see a doctor. Many people take advantage of emergency rooms so why not you. My wife is a counsoler and I can see the signs. Depression is a sickness and you won't get better without some medicine to combat it.
This is the story of a lot of people lately. You can look at grants.gov, but I'm not sure you will find the grant you are looking for there. I've looked but have not really found anything I'm qualified for. It may make sense to look. One thing you may also want to look at is this news story I found yesterday. Is Online Income the new growth industry I thought it brough up some good points for this new economy we find ourselves in.
Unemployment seems to be getting a lot worse. I ran across a page I thought was interesting about how others in my area are combating the loss of their jobs. Just thought I would share incase anyone else is in the same boat and looking for ways to earn money without a lot of risk. http://www.dailyjobsnews.com/45/is-online-income-the-new-growth-industry/
It really sounds like you may have slipped into depression. I would say go see a doctor and get some medicine. Its hard to get out of these types of problems when you can't think straight.
If you tell the creditors to not call you at work they must comply with your wishes. I don't know what to tell you about the debt as that is a lot of money. I did read an article a little while ago that shows the way some people are increasing their incomes in this economy and that sounds like something you need which is to increase the amount of money coming in and then use it to pay down your debts. Here is the site in case you are interested. http://www.dailyjobsnews.com/45/is-online-income-the-new-growth-industry/
With all the bad information going on about unclaimed money. I decided to make a blog focusing on how to go about getting unclaimed money from states. I would be interested in others ideas on how I can improve this to help people out with this information. I'm just getting started and only made a few posts at the moment. If you would like to make suggestions on how this could help you locate unclaimed money or propery which you may be owed, please reply to this post and let me know. Unclaimed State Property
Tell her to go to DFACs and then ask them if they will send her to Chattahoochee Tech for the displaced homeworkers program. If she can do this and go through the program, they will teach her how to find a job and get back on her feet.
Pinky there are a lot of ways to make money online. Not all of them are free but some are. If you don't have any cash to invest and can research and write decently then you may want to check out http://www.associatedcontent.com/ they will pay people to write and submit articles. They will pay you through paypal so its easy to get the money. I know some people who are earning 80-100 dollars every day doing this.
Other ways are to apply as writers for blogs. Many people will pay for articles. Hire A freelancer is a good site that lets you connect to people who want to hire writers.
I know the feeling. We may be neighbors. I haven't lost mine yet, but its on the chopping block for next month. At least they told me prior to it actually disappearing. This is happening to a lot of people. I heard on the news yesterday that over 640,000 more lost their job last week alone.
Since there or not many jobs around, I'm just going to start trying to work for myself on the Internet. I wrote a post about some of the methods I'm using at http://www.mytowntalks.com/featured/making-money-online.php in case you want to read up on this.
I recently ordered a package from http://www.mytowntalks.com/freemoney and I'm working through the process right now. There are quite a few grants in this package and you may be eligible for one of them. It costs a couple of bucks to get the CD, but there is a wealth of information in it.
Stacy, you can always apply for financial aid. Go to your the Finaid office at your school and they will be able to point you to any programs you may qualify for.
Have you tried the SBA at sba.gov? They will help you obtain loans if you have a decent business plan. First you will have to put together a busines plan, but since the government garuntees these loans banks are more apt to loan you the money. You will have to have some money to invest in the business or some asset to secure the loan, but this may be an option.
There are a lot fo sites out there that will let you do surveys for money. I actually perfer to try and get gift cards for taking the surveys as you can get more from these for the same amount of time. There is a pretty decent list of these programs at http://www.mytowntalks.com/freebies
I've tried cashcrate too and they do pay but it takes a lot of time. I since turned to programs that will provide gift cards or other gifts for taking surveys. There is a pretty good list at http://www.mytowntalks.com/freebies which list some survey programs with some good gift cards for participating. It takes a little time, but since some of the programs give gift cards for stuff like baby formula and groceries its a decent deal for me.
I don't know about a specfic grant program, but I do know there are a lot of grant programs for Women and Minorities which you may quailfy for. You can also look for a SBA loan which may work out for you. You will need a good business plan before you can quailfy for one, but that should not be too hard considering you have already taken some of the steps.
I'm in the same boat as a lot of people on this site. I've lost my job and at the time do not have any prospects of one to replace it. The bills are pretty much stacking up and I'm not sure how I'm going to pay the mortgage this month, but I don't want anyone to send me any money. I want to earn it myself.
Since a lot of people here seem to be concerned about paying bills, buying groceries, paying for gas, etc.. I had an idea. I am a member of a site which provides gift cards some of which ae related to buying food and gas. All they require is participation in some surveys many of which only take a few minutes to complete for you to recieve the card.
I'll tell you the truth, if you complete these I get paid a dollar or so for each one. So in a way we will be helping one another here. You spend a few minutes of your time to gift a much needed gift and I get a buck for everyone of you who completes one or more of these. So I'm helping you and you are helping me.
There are actually quite a few grants for minorities. I just ordered a grants package which list some of them. Which you can get to by looking at http://www.mytowntalks.com/freemoney this package costs a few dollars, but there are also free resources around. Take a look at grants.gov as it has a lot of programs. The one thing about grants.gov is the sheer volume of information, that is why I just ordered a package I can search and find ones that pertain to me.
You could probably also qualify for a SBA loan, but that is not a grant and you will have to pay that back. If you want to go the loan route then its crucial that you have a decent business plan before you apply. I would recomend you picking up a copy of Business Plan pro for this task unless you know a lot about this. Having a business plan is not only useful for getting the loan, it also forces you to think about all aspects of your business from operating expenses to promotion methods.
Good luck and I hope you make his work out for you.
lelynn, You could try associatedcontent.com as well as listing writing services on websites such as elance.com. It won't produce a lot of money but you could earn some if you really work at it. I know people earning several hundred a week by submitting good articles to associated content.
Xjean68x, I'm so sorry for your troubles. Sounds like you guys are not getting a fair shake. Have you tried to contact that company( sorry I can't remember the name) that has the commericals on TV about providing medication to people who can't afford them. I'm not sure what the qualifications for that program is but it would seem you guys should qualify.
You have my prayers and I hope things start looking up for you.
Well its really funny how things work out. I was cruising around the net pretty much feeling sorry for myself when I happened accross this site. Things in my life have not been going my way for a while and I've been pretty much feeling like giving up. Then I find this site and I realize I'm just one of many who have problems in these difficult times. Perhaps we can all help one another which seems to be the theme of this site. Thanks to the owners for putting this together.
Well my sad story goes like this, its not near as sad as some people's I've read on this site. I've been under stress at the job for the last couple of years as there have been a lot of questions as to whether we will even be able to survive. First it started out with the threat of being outsourced, but luckily we over came that.
Then we were told we were going to merge and now the merge has finally cost me my job. I still may be able to take a lower paying job which I will probably have to do, but with the bills I have that is really going to hurt the finances. I would find another job, but in this enviroment there are not many out there. So the future is unclear at the moment.
The stress all this has caused is pretty much making me sick and I'm getting to where I can't really function very well. I'm working on getting a goverment grant so I can start my own internet business. I have a few websites and they are earning a little money for me which will be my only income very soon unless I find a new job or get one of the lower paying jobs.
I'm just going to keep working on my websites and hopefully they will start to provide enough income to keep me going so I won't have to loose my home or other belongings. We'll just have to see how it goes and what I can accomplish. Anyway thanks for taking the time to read my little ramblings and thanks for the great webiste.
I think with the grants you really have to watch the rules. Not only to ensure you are eligible, but to also make sure you follow the rules. Following the rules for applying for the grant is where a lot of people fail at this. The site listed at http://www.mytowntalks.com/freemoney actually helps you walk through the grant process and provides tools to help you complete the grant applications properly. I have signed up for this as its only a couple of bucks, but I'm still waiting on my package so I can't really comment yet. Hopefully it will work out good as I'm really starting to get desperate.
That is really sad about the dog. I know when I was a kid our house burned down and we lost everything. I remember it very well as I had just went and bought school clothes with the money I had earned from my summer job and all my new clothes were burned in the fire. Needless to say that was not a good day and I know how this family must feel.
A lot of local churches chipped in and provide us with a lot of donations of clothes and other neccessities so we could start over. This may be an option here.
I found a website at http://www.mytowntalks.com/grant/ which provides a grants package. It cost a couple of dollars to get the package and I think I'm going to try it out.
Not sure if I can qualify or not, but its worth a shot. I can feel for everyone in trouble. I'm about to loose my job too and I don't know what I'm going to do. I'm hoping I can qualify for one of these grants Obama has gotten passed so perhaps I can go back to school or maybe start my own business. Once I get the package I'll let you guys know how it goes.
